Somerset’s Yaraandoo aged care home slashes kitchen staff numbers | The Advocate

A 150 hour per week cut from the rosters of kitchen staff at the Yaraandoo Aged Care facility in Somerset has prompted a complaint to the aged care sector regulator. Health and Community Services Union assistant state secretary Robbie Moore said the union had no option but to lay a complaint with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. “Its incomprehensible that … with Yaraandoo having had one of the biggest sanctions of all aged care homes in Tasmania, that they would be undertaking to reduce staffing hours further. “They need more staff so residents can get the care and support they need.” Mr Moore said the reduction from 383 to 232 hours a week amounted to a 40 per cut. “It will have an impact on meal…
