Reigning premiers Somerset have again emerged as the team to beat after an impressive performance at the Darwin Football Association’s Gala Day on Saturday. The ‘Roos defeated an undermanned South Burnie 16.10 (106) to 3.12 (30). The Hawks battled against the odds but Somerset deployed their smooth transfer game too well. A blustery seaward wind made conditions difficult all day for teams, but the opening match was the most exciting with Yeoman hanging on to edge out Natone by one point, 8.7 (55) to 7.12 (54).
