Federal Labor leader Anthony Albanese has characterised Tasmanian Labor’s horror start to its election campaign as merely “a bit of noise”. There has been more attention on the party’s factional infighting than its pledges and policy announcements since the election was called on March 26. Arguably the worst day for Labor leader Rebecca White was on Wednesday when one candidate, Ben McGregor had to stand down for inappropriate text messages directed at a former female friend in a group chat some years ago. In announcing his withdrawal from the campaign, Mr McGregor took a swipe at Ms White’s leadership, saying she had endorsed grubby politics within the party.
